Google is testing the Call for Me feature in the US, which has Gemini call businesses on users’ behalf. Initially, the feature is being made available to users of the Pixel 11 series with paid Gemini subscriptions and those participating in the public beta program for the Google Phone app. Gemini can navigate automated menus and wait using the user’s number, speak with employees, and handle stock checks, reservations, appointment changes, and product holds. The system can transfer permitted personal information, provide a real-time transcript, and allow the user to take over the call. Unlike Direct My Call, it also handles the conversation. Google is keeping the trial small; no timeline has been announced for other devices and countries. The feature combines work from Duplex, Ask for Me, and Hold for Me.
