Introduction
According to a study by the Pew Research Center examining approximately 490 thousand English-language web pages in the Common Crawl archive, 35% of the pages published after ChatGPT was made available in November 2022 contained traces indicating artificial intelligence authorship. In all 10 thousand pages selected in July 2026, the rate was measured at 10%.
Developments
In the 2026 sample, artificial intelligence traces were at approximately 10% on .com pages, 4.6% on .org pages, and approximately 1% on .edu and .gov pages.
Details
Between 2023-2026, the use of em dashes approximately doubled, while some comparative sentence structures increased approximately threefold. The researchers stated that these indicators alone did not prove the use of artificial intelligence.
