TÜRASAŞ’s first national high-speed train set, developed entirely using domestic and national resources, is still undergoing testing. According to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, the set, designed with an operating speed of 225 kilometers, reached 250 kilometers in dynamic running safety tests. The project has entered the mass production phase with the start of production of the second set.

Each set will consist of 8 cars and carry 577 passengers. ASELSAN designed and manufactured the “Train Control and Management System” and the “Traction System” using domestic and national resources. Production will take place at Turkey’s first private high-speed train factory, which covers 18 thousand square meters and has reached 90% physical completion. The facility will combine production, assembly and testing with a capacity of 1 unit per month.
Why it matters
This development shows that the project is not limited to testing a single train set, but aims to create broader capacity together with production infrastructure and domestic technical components. The control and management and traction systems developed by ASELSAN make the use of domestic solutions in the high-speed train’s critical functions one of the project’s fundamental elements. The planned fleet of 14 sets will require the factory’s monthly capacity and schedule to be operated regularly in the production of trains with a capacity of 577 passengers. However, the framework presented so far does not yet reveal on which lines and under what operating conditions these sets will serve, or which stages the tests cover in terms of transitioning to passenger transportation.
