Investment Exceeding 9 Million Dollars and Infrastructure Plan for Commercial Partnership

The demonstration flight was jointly organized by EHang, one of Hong Kong’s major transportation operators, Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings, and the technology hub Cyberport. Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings had previously announced plans to order 30 EH216-S aircraft from EHang with an investment exceeding 9 million dollars.

The company plans to use the autonomous aerial vehicles it will take delivery of for passenger transportation and logistics services across Hong Kong.

Regulatory Preparation for the Low-Altitude Economy

The Hong Kong administration is carrying out comprehensive legal and regulatory work to develop the low-altitude economy in the city. The relevant legislation is planned to be completed by 2027. Hong Kong Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan said that the city is aligned with international civil aviation standards and that the tests conducted had established standards that could be applied globally.

Data Collected Under Regulatory Sandbox X

Risk assessment flights conducted by advanced air mobility companies in complex urban airspace are being carried out in a test area called Regulatory Sandbox X. The flight data collected and regulatory experience gained in this experimental environment are expected to directly provide a template for legislation on autonomous air transportation worldwide.
