Four-Legged Transportation Concept in Beijing
Advanced autonomous systems introduced at the World Robot Conference showcased designs that go beyond industrial robots. The Qiji X1 four-legged robotic platform developed by DaxAI Robotics presented a concept that could be used as a personal transportation vehicle on rugged terrain where wheeled systems are inadequate. Thanks to its biomimetic body structure, the vehicle can autonomously traverse mud, gravel and steeply sloped surfaces, combining the traditional four-legged robotic dog design with the form of a passenger vehicle.
300-Kilogram Load Capacity and Technical Specifications
Featuring a driver’s seat and control levers, the Qiji X1 can carry loads of up to 300 kilograms. The vehicle, with a total weight of approximately 300 kilograms, can reach a speed of 10 kilometers per hour and offers a range of approximately 40 kilometers on a single charge. Its power system, based on combinations of hydrogen and internal combustion engines, generates high torque under challenging terrain conditions.
The platform’s sale price was announced as approximately 41 thousand dollars.
Integrated Use with Humanoid Robots
Demonstrations held as part of the event showed that humanoid robots can work together with passenger systems. At the opening of the World Humanoid Robot Games, which featured more than 2 thousand robots from approximately 16 countries, a humanoid robot was mounted on the Qiji X1 for a demonstration. The demonstration revealed the coordination among autonomous machines. At a time when Unitree Robotics, one of the industry’s leading manufacturers, went public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, China is accelerating its investments in the autonomous mobility ecosystem.
Bionic Startup Founded by Former JD.com Engineers
DaxAI Robotics was founded by autonomous driving expert Wang Kun, who has a background at JD.com, and artificial intelligence researcher Xu Wenqiang. The company’s engineers are developing mechanical infrastructures that could provide logistical support in mountainous regions and disaster areas where wheeled vehicles cannot advance.
Although the Qiji X1 has so far been introduced as a concept intended for entertainment and demonstrations, it serves as a technical example of the functions legged vehicles could undertake in personal transportation in the future.
