Salesforce and Anthropic have expanded the scope of their partnership, which they have named Claudeforce. At the center of the agreement is the Salesforce in Claude plugin added to Anthropic’s Claude CoWork service. The plugin offers sales teams 37 ready-made capabilities, such as meeting preparation, deal evaluation and sales funnel analysis, allowing them to query and update live CRM data without opening Salesforce. The product has been made available to selected pilot customers; September is planned for the open beta, while capabilities for other functions are scheduled to be released in the third quarter.
The partnership is based on Headless 360, which Salesforce introduced in March and which enables AI agents to access company data, workflows and governance rules without a user interface. After customers began turning to use this system with Claude, the two companies developed the plugin to run directly within Claude in order to reduce the challenges involved in setup and permission management. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei were scheduled to appear together on a television program on Tuesday.
Why it matters
This expansion aims to enable sales teams using Salesforce to carry out AI-powered tasks without switching to a separate CRM interface. This brings access to live company data into Claude’s workspace for processes such as meeting preparation, deal evaluation and sales pipeline monitoring. The development is particularly relevant to customers who want to combine Salesforce data with Claude but find setup and permission management complex. However, the fact that the product is still limited to selected pilot customers indicates that it remains too early to determine how widely its use will spread. The planned timeline for the open beta and other capabilities also makes the practical implementation of governance rules and permission structures, as well as the scope of access, key issues to watch.
