The first Geekbench results for the A20 Pro processor in Apple’s new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models have emerged. The devices, identified on Geekbench 6.7 by the codes iPhone 19,2 and iPhone 19,3, scored 4,719 and 4,612 in single-core performance, and 12,677 and 11,819 in multi-core performance, respectively. While the average results were 4,665 and 12,248, the performance increase compared with the iPhone 17 Pro family was measured at between 21% and 23%. However, two tests are not sufficient for a definitive comparison; more data is needed because competing processors are being tested in prototypes. The A20 Pro’s CPU frequency reaches 4.93 GHz, and it uses a 2 nm manufacturing process. Battery, temperature, and sustained performance tests are needed to assess real-world use.

Why it matters

The initial measurements show that the performance increase in the next-generation processor is, for now, a difference observed under laboratory conditions. Therefore, the results do not mean that the devices will feel faster in daily use or that battery life will be longer; power consumption and thermal management will determine the difference between synthetic testing and real-world use. The variation in results between the records for the two different devices also suggests that the operating conditions of early samples could affect the comparison. The key unresolved question for readers is how well the A20 Pro can maintain its high frequency and 2 nm manufacturing architecture during extended use; this cannot be answered without broader, reproducible tests.
