Volvo Trucks has begun series production of its next-generation electric trucks at its Tuve plant in Gothenburg to accelerate zero-emission freight transport; production will also take place in Ghent. The updated FH, FM and FMX Electric offer a range of up to 470 kilometres, while the flagship FH Aero Electric delivers up to 700 kilometres on a single charge. The new e-axle creates additional space for batteries and supports MCS fast charging. With a new, efficient powertrain, the models are designed for regional distribution, construction and waste management.
Volvo also announced a solution for tractor-trailer combinations with a gross weight of up to 80 tonnes. The model provides a range of up to 450 km at a total weight of 64 tonnes and up to 420 km at 74-76 tonnes. The vehicle, with a usable battery capacity of 640 kWh, features cold-weather insulation, advanced battery monitoring, and MCS and CCS2 support. Sales will begin in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland; the vehicle will enter the market in early 2027. Series production aims to reduce dependence on diesel.
