Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled new features for Muse, the personal AI agent launched in early September, at the company’s annual Connect event in Menlo Park. Muse is designed to automate everyday tasks by connecting to apps and services such as email and calendars. Powered by Meta’s agent-focused multimodal model Muse Spark, the system works across users’ devices and digital accounts.
Zuckerberg said he expects Muse to eventually evolve into a “personal superintelligence” that helps billions of people achieve their goals. Meta plans to offer Muse for free for a large number of tokens and generate revenue over time by charging a small fee for transactions.
The main features announced include creating a digital avatar for each user and enabling real-time video conversations with that avatar. Powered by the Muse Realtime Avatar model, the avatar will have a face, body and voice; users will be able to ask questions and give tasks by speaking with the avatar.
Muse will also be integrated into Meta’s smart glasses. By activating the agent with a wake word, users will be able to receive personalized exercise guidance, log their meals, schedule appointments and attempt to purchase products they see. Meta said this feature will be made available “the coming months.”
Meta announced that with Muse coming to Mac, the agent will be able to take over users’ tasks by operating desktop applications. The agent will be able to continue working on assigned tasks after users leave their computers. A dedicated email address is being developed for Muse so it can work in the background; users will be able to add Muse to email conversations or forward emails to it so it can take action.
Partnerships were formed with Stripe and Shopify for Muse’s shopping capabilities. The system will be able to access the Shopify product catalog and shop through Lync, Shop Pay and PayPal. The new retail partners are as follows:

- Gap
- Sephora
- Walmart
- Wayfair
Muse will connect to these companies’ apps, as well as Expedia and, soon, Instacart. Other integrations include GitHub, Granola and Notion. Meta allowed developers to create their own integrations and received more than 1,500 applications in less than a week.
Why it matters
These announcements show Muse’s trajectory from a single chat tool toward becoming an interface that carries out actions across different devices, accounts and online services. While this change directly concerns users who manage their daily tasks through email, calendars, desktop applications, smart glasses and shopping platforms, it also ties their workflows more closely to Meta’s network of integrations. For developers, the ability to create their own integrations indicates that the range of applications Muse can access may expand. For Meta, the plan to offer free use while charging fees on transactions shows that the product is being positioned not only as an assistant, but also as a revenue-generating channel between services and commerce. The open question is the scope at which these integrations and background tasks will be offered.
