The new BMW X7 was spotted being tested at the Nürburgring with its M Performance package prototype. The camouflaged vehicle shows that the V8 engine will be retained, the massive kidney grilles will be offered with an illuminated option, and horizontal grille bars will be used. Wing-shaped door-opening mechanisms and taillights extending across the tailgate are also among the design innovations.
The cabin of the new X7 will feature the Panoramic iDrive system introduced in the iX3, a display extending across the windshield, a touchscreen, and a Head-Up Display. While the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 523 horsepower is expected to approach or exceed 600 horsepower in the new generation, 6-cylinder engines producing up to 395 horsepower will be used at the entry level. It is also reported that a variant of the 483-horsepower PHEV system in the X5 could be added to the X7. The model is expected to be unveiled in 2027.
