Aston Martin is working on a track-focused special Vantage designed to rival the Porsche 911 GT3. The prototype spotted at the Nürburgring stands apart from the standard model with a large splitter, wide air ducts, a fixed rear wing, a redesigned diffuser and a centrally positioned quad exhaust system.

Although official technical data has not been released, the Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is expected to produce more than 700 horsepower. It is reported that the V8 will be preferred over the V12 because of its weight advantage, while a manual transmission option could remain under consideration. The model is expected to be unveiled late this year or in early 2027.

Why it matters

This prototype shows Aston Martin’s effort to position the Vantage directly against cars known for their track performance, such as the Porsche 911 GT3. The development is therefore not merely about a new body design; it also raises the question of how the brand will balance power, weight and driving character in its performance-focused model. The expected preference for a V8 over a V12 demonstrates that reducing weight is considered as important as performance. The possibility of a manual transmission suggests that the car could be shaped not only around lap times but also around the interaction it offers the driver. However, since official technical data has not been released, the power output, transmission choice and launch schedule have not yet been finalized.
