Razer has launched Prio, a foldable mobile gaming controller that works with iOS and Android devices via USB-C. Its compact body makes it easy to carry the accessory in a pocket or bag. The controller features a four-way D-pad with haptic feedback, face buttons, shoulder buttons and triggers; capacitive thumbsticks designed to reduce stick drift are used for analog control. Razer aims for these sticks to provide more precise control in moving environments. Unlike Bluetooth, the wired connection eliminates the need for a battery and pairing, while also helping keep latency low. Prio is compatible with slim and medium-thickness cases and phones measuring up to seven inches, including the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Why it matters
Prio is relevant to users seeking quick setup because it eliminates the need to separately monitor a battery and complete a wireless pairing step in mobile gaming. Although the low latency and uninterrupted power advantages of a USB-C connection are particularly significant for those who play while on the move, wired use still requires a physical connection. Capacitive thumbsticks raise expectations for control precision during extended use with the aim of reducing stick drift; however, the practical impact of this approach depends on the user experience. While the foldable design and case support expand portability, the fact that compatibility is limited by specific screen sizes and phone thicknesses means that not every device owner will have the same experience.
