The first trailer for LEGO Skylines, announced as part of Gamescom 2026, has been released. The game will allow players to build colorful and detailed cities with LEGO bricks. The trailer showcased city simulation mechanics such as creating residential areas and establishing a fire department.
Developed by Iceflake Studios, which is leading the Cities: Skylines II project, the game is being published by Paradox Interactive. LEGO Skylines will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. A release date has not yet been announced.
Why it matters
LEGO Skylines may appeal both to those who follow city-building simulation games and those who prefer the brand’s games, as it combines the city-building genre with LEGO’s visual language. The involvement of Iceflake Studios, the studio behind the Cities: Skylines II project, in the development process demonstrates the game’s connection to experience in this genre; however, it is not yet clear to what extent the game will overlap with the Cities: Skylines series in terms of scope and gameplay. The inclusion of Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PC and current-generation consoles shows that the game aims to reach players across different platforms. On the other hand, the fact that no release date has been announced means that, at this stage, the announcement remains limited to a presentation outlining the gameplay framework.
