PlayStation and LEGO Group have created a special set that recreates the original PlayStation console and controller using LEGO pieces. The approximately 26 cm-wide, 1,911-piece model features working power and eject buttons, a detachable controller, and dioramas themed around Ape Escape and Gran Turismo.
The set will be available for early access to direct.playstation.com and LEGO Insiders members on October 1, 2026, and will go on sale in all LEGO stores starting October 4, 2026. The recommended prices were announced as 179.99 USD / 159.99 EUR / 139.99 GBP / 27,980 JPY.
Why it matters
This collaboration brings together hardware and game references from PlayStation’s early days in the form of a LEGO model that can be built and displayed, rather than merely played with. The working buttons and detachable controller set it apart from a static replica, while the Ape Escape and Gran Turismo-themed sections bring interest in different PlayStation games together in a single product. For this reason, the product represents an announcement worth watching, with different access conditions for both LEGO Insiders members and those who follow LEGO stores, as well as players familiar with the original PlayStation design. The key question that remains is how the regional prices and the two-stage sales schedule will be received by those seeking access to the product.
Background
LEGO is not a new name in the FikirPilot archive: we published a news article mentioning the name in the past 90 days; that article is dated August 26, 2026.
