SOEDESCO and Senscape have announced the console release date for Asylum. The supernatural horror adventure game, released on PC via Steam and GOG on March 13, 2025, will come to the following platforms on October 30, 2026:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PlayStation 4
- Nintendo Switch
The game, which is a spiritual successor to Scratches, puts players in control of a former patient investigating the history of the Hanwell Institute of Mental and Nervous Diseases. In the first-person game, which focuses on exploration, atmosphere, and psychological tension, players examine the environment to solve observation-based puzzles. Offering approximately 10 hours of gameplay, Asylum is already available on PC.
Why it matters
This announcement shows that the game, which is available on PC, will also become accessible to console players; in particular, PlayStation and Xbox users across different generations, as well as Switch owners, will be able to access the same horror adventure experience. In this way, the game’s exploration and observation-based puzzle structure will be brought to control schemes beyond the computer; however, it has not been explained how this transition will affect the gameplay experience. The connection to Scratches creates expectations of atmospheric and narrative continuity for those familiar with the previous game in the series, while leaving open the question of how well the game will be understood independently by new players. Its approximately 10-hour structure and focus on psychological tension stand out as key elements that could determine the interest of players seeking a short but intense experience.
