Footage From EA’s Iron Man Game Emerges [Video]

Early development gameplay footage from the new Iron Man game developed by Electronic Arts and EA Motive and announced in 2022 has been leaked. EA confirmed the leak in a post from the game’s account.

The footage shows a combat system reminiscent of Batman Arkham and Marvel’s Spider-Man, along with flight and combat mechanics unique to Iron Man. Drawing inspiration from the comics rather than the MCU, the game’s main setting is Chicago, while scenes of Tony Stark traveling to Japan and a SHIELD Helicarrier are also featured. Alongside characters such as Pepper Potts, Obadiah Stane, Henry Pym, Madame Masque and Iron Monger, figures resembling Ultron and Yellowjacket also stand out. The armor customization system offers an extensive inventory that can be equipped with different weapons. The game’s release date is not yet known.

Why it matters

EA’s confirmation of the leak is important because it allows for an assessment of the game’s current development process based on the footage; however, this confirmation does not mean that all the content seen on screen has reached its final form. Since the footage is from an early stage, it remains unclear whether the combat, flight, armor customization and inventory systems will change throughout development. The approach drawing on the comics, along with the use of different locations such as Chicago, Japan and the SHIELD Helicarrier, could directly affect expectations regarding the game’s narrative and world design. The extent to which the character and enemy list is final, as well as when the game will be released, remains one of the fundamental unanswered questions at this stage.
