iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max users reported Face ID issues following the launch. According to posts on Reddit, various forums and MacRumors, some devices have experienced freezes and restarts during authentication, while some users have encountered a “Face ID Unavailable” warning during setup. It has also been reported that the device unlocks without direct eye contact, even though the “Require Attention for Face ID” option is enabled. It is not yet known whether the issues in the iPhone 18 Pro series, in which Apple moved the infrared camera beneath the upper-left corner of the display to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, are caused by hardware or software optimization. Apple has not commented on the matter.
