Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, which went on sale worldwide, including in Türkiye, in recent weeks, have been reported to have speaker issues. Users said on platforms such as Reddit that crackling, rattling and random clicking sounds were coming from the earpiece speaker. It was reported that the sounds could be heard continuously on some devices, while on others they occurred when using an app, receiving a notification, opening the keyboard, making a cellular call, turning Airplane Mode on or off, or changing the screen brightness.
Apple’s iOS 27.0.1 update, released due to a Face ID issue, did not mention the speaker problem. Some users said that they encountered the same issue on their new iPhone 18 Pro even after having their devices replaced under warranty. The cause of the problem and how widespread it is have not yet been officially disclosed.
Why it matters
The fact that the notifications occur during different operations raises the possibility that the problem may not be limited to a specific app; however, the available information does not indicate whether it is software- or hardware-related. This uncertainty makes the resolution process more difficult for users who say that the complaint can recur even after the same model is replaced under warranty. The omission of the issue from the update leaves open questions about whether Apple has confirmed the problem and what steps users should follow. Since the proportion of affected devices is unknown, it is also not yet possible to determine whether the reports reflect an isolated malfunction or a broader problem. Until the cause and scope of the issue become clear, user experiences will remain the main indicator of the current situation.
