Instagram has made available a feature that lets users add posts they have been tagged in to their main profile grid. Users will be able to use the “Add to grid” option directly from the direct message notification, the post menu, or by pressing and holding the post in the “Etiketlenenler (Tagged)” tab. This tab will remain; content added to the profile will not create a new copy, and the original post will remain on the profile of the account that published it. Although a post can be removed from the main profile, it will not be deleted from the “Etiketlenenler” tab. Visibility will depend on the privacy settings of both accounts. Content will be sorted in reverse chronological order by default and can be moved using the grid editing feature introduced in June. The update also includes content creators who can highlight brand campaigns without using a collab post or repost. The same post can be displayed on the profiles of multiple creators. Instagram had also introduced the First Draft and Replace Audio tools.
Why it matters
This step turns the profile grid from a showcase consisting solely of content published by the account itself into a space where users can also select and highlight posts associated with them. Keeping the content from being copied and leaving it on the publishing account’s profile separates visibility from content ownership; this distinction keeps it clear which account is considered the source, particularly in joint campaigns. The ability for the same post to appear on the profiles of multiple creators reduces the need for reposting while making profile organization part of campaign visibility for content creators and brands. However, because the privacy settings of both accounts determine visibility, it remains unclear whether this display will take place in the same way for every user and follower.
