Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz disclosed details of the notice sent by Yargıtay Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı to YENİ Parti following Yenilik Partisi’s application regarding the similarity of the names. The two-page letter, dated September 12, was reportedly signed by Yargıtay Cumhuriyet Başsavcısı Muhsin Şentürk.
The notice stated that under Article 96 of the Siyasi Partiler Kanunu, the names, emblems, abbreviations and similar symbols of political parties may not be used in a way that could cause confusion. It said the name and abbreviated name of YENİ Parti, which acquired legal personality on July 24, were similar to those of Yenilik Partisi, which acquired legal personality on July 20, 2020. YENİ Parti was asked to change its name to prevent consequences that could affect voters’ will.
The letter also recalled that the party established under the name Yeni Parti on December 19, 2024, changed its name to Yükselen Türkiye Partisi following an application filed on January 7, 2025.
