MHP Deputy Chair Feti Yıldız reported that “YENİ Parti,” founded by Özgür Özel and 90 MPs who left CHP on July 24, 2026, had been called on by the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation to change its name following an objection by a representative of “Yenilik Partisi.” Yıldız said that while 189 political parties were registered with the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor, only 41 met the requirements to participate in elections under YSK decision No. 2026/159. He said that of the 24 parties that contested the May 14, 2023 elections, 14 received between one and two votes per thousand, while some parties did not even have 100-200 members nationwide. Arguing that establishing a political party was easier than establishing a company, Yıldız called for a new law; he proposed that parties should be deemed not to have completed their establishment unless they organized in at least 41 provinces and 1/3 of their districts, had members equivalent to 0/001 of the provincial population or number of voters certified by the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor, and submitted this to the Ministry of Interior.
