Nintendo announced during the 40th Anniversary broadcast for The Legend of Zelda series that the Ocarina of Time remake prepared for Switch 2 will be released on November 5th. The game was unveiled with a short trailer in June, but details had not been disclosed. Ocarina of Time will be one of the few high-budget games to launch in the same month as Grand Theft Auto VI.
The version, which will be the first Zelda game exclusive to Switch 2, was described by producer Eiji Aonuma as a “faithful interpretation” created with modern technology. The presentation showcased more detailed graphics compared with the N64 original, a redesigned Great Deku Tree, and free camera movement. The “Threads of time” feature makes it easier for players to see where and when their next objectives are. Players will also be able to hum melodies instead of playing them with the controller and make Link jump by pressing a button.
The digital version will cost $59.99, while the physical version will cost $69.99. Nintendo confirmed that the live-action film will be titled The Legend of Zelda and will be released in theaters on April 30th, 2027. The company will hold a second Direct broadcast at 10AM ET on September 9th, lasting 45 minutes and focusing on Switch 2 games set to be released later in 2026.
