Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX and developer TALLBOYS announced that, alongside the previously announced Steam version, the Kafkaesque immersive simulation game Militsioner will launch for Xbox Series and PC via the Microsoft Store in 2027.
Players control a citizen who has been detained for a crime they did not commit and is trying to escape the town. The biggest obstacle standing in the way of escape is the Giant Police Officer watching over the town. The game features multiple solutions, dynamic dialogue, and a mood system that affects the characters’ behavior. While players can steal items, deceive people, or use their relationships, the townspeople’s reactions and the characters’ daily routines affect the escape plan.
Why it matters
The Xbox Series and Microsoft Store options added alongside Steam will expand the pool of players who can access the game while making platform preference more important. Militsioner’s standout feature is that escape depends not only on completing objectives but also on relationships with the townspeople, the characters’ moods, and their daily behavior; as a result, the game offers a structure in which the player’s decisions can directly affect the reactions of those around them. The town’s system of surveillance builds the search for freedom around social relationships and behavior as well as physical obstacles. However, since the announcement did not specify an exact release date beyond 2027, the timeframe players will have to wait remains unclear.
