Emily Armstrong calendar

Emily Armstrong, the singer Linkin Park added to its lineup in 2024, told People magazine about the pressure created by her role in the band. The 40-year-old musician, known as the frontwoman of the Los Angeles rock band Dead Sara, took over as the group’s lead singer following Chester Bennington, who took his own life in 2017.

Armstrong timeline

The decision sparked controversy, and Bennington’s mother Susan Eubanks claimed she felt betrayed and that the band was trying to erase its past.

Speaking to promote the documentary Unshatter, which covers the band’s 2024 reunion process and Armstrong’s first concerts, Armstrong said she too had questioned whether she was suited to the role.

Chester developments

Emphasizing that no one could replace Chester, the artist said she needed to bring her own style rather than imitate him, while trying to create the same emotional impact on the older songs. Armstrong also said she felt very lucky to be in this position.

Mike Shinoda details

The band’s founding member Mike Shinoda expressed gratitude for being able to forge such a bond a second time. Critic Mark Beaumont, meanwhile, wrote that the reunion put the band’s legacy at risk, but that the decision belonged not to Bennington’s family, but to the band itself.
