Google has made available the voice-based AI features called Docs Live, Gmail Live and Keep Live, which it introduced at Google I/O 2026 in May. Users can search their Gmail inboxes with voice queries, create drafts in Docs for text they describe, and take notes with Keep Live without using a keyboard. Docs can pull information from Gmail, Drive, chat history and the web while preparing a draft.
Gmail Live, which currently works only in English on iOS and Android, is available to Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers; Docs Live and Keep Live are available to Pro and Ultra users. It was stated that enterprise business customers will gain access to the features soon.
Why it matters
These features expand the way Google’s productivity apps handle searching, drafting text and taking notes, replacing the keyboard with natural-language commands. However, the same experience is not available to all user groups because of access restrictions, subscription tiers and English-only support on mobile; therefore, the impact of the innovation depends more on which accounts can access it than on its technical capabilities. Docs’ ability to pull information from Gmail, Drive, chat history and the web directly concerns users working across different sources, taking draft preparation beyond content contained in a single app. It is not yet clear when enterprise customers will gain access to these tools or when the language limitation on iOS and Android will be lifted.
