Google has integrated Gemini Live’s voice interaction features into the Gmail, Docs and Keep apps. Gmail Live, Docs Live and Keep Live, previewed at Google I/O in May, were initially made available worldwide only in English. The features enable users to control the apps with voice commands.
Gmail Live scans emails, responds to questions with voice summaries and displays links to the source messages. Docs Live turns voice narrations into documents or business proposals, while Keep Live converts conversations into lists. Docs and Gmail Live are available on iOS and Android under the Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans, while Keep Live has so far been made available to Google AI Pro and Ultra users on Android.
Why it matters
This integration moves Gemini Live from being a standalone chat experience into the email, document and note-taking tasks users already perform. As a result, users who particularly prefer working by voice and have the relevant subscription plans will be able to access information, create content and organize conversations without switching between apps. However, the separation of access by plan and the limitation of Keep support to Android show that the feature is not available to all users with the same scope. The fact that the worldwide launch is initially available only in English also narrows its area of use, while whether language and platform support will expand at a later stage remains an open question.
