The ChatGPT paid subscription can be canceled through the platform where it was purchased without deleting the account. After cancellation, it continues until the end date of the current billing period; deleting the app or account does not stop the subscription. To avoid being charged again, the process must be completed at least 24 hours before the next payment date.
For a web subscription:
- Log in to the account.
- From the account menu, go to Settings → Billing → Cancel plan.
- Select Cancel and complete the confirmation on the screen.
The renewal status can be checked in the Billing section. In the ChatGPT Business self-service version, go to Workspace settings → Billing → Manage plan → Cancel subscription; if access is unavailable, the workspace owner must complete the process.
On iPhone or iPad, the App Store subscription is managed through the Apple account by going to Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ChatGPT → Cancel Subscription. If it does not appear in the list, a different Apple account should be checked. Refund requests must also be submitted through Apple.
On Android, go to Google Play Store → Subscriptions → ChatGPT → Cancel subscription; the process can also be completed from a computer.
