Finland-based Verda, which develops cloud infrastructure for artificial intelligence applications, raised 189 million dollars in a Series B funding round led by Emergence Capital. MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital (6DC), byFounders, Tesi and angel investor Ola Tørudbakken participated in the round.
Founded by Ruben Bryon in 2020, the company will use the investment to support product development, increase processing capacity, inference efforts and its expansion in Europe, the US and Asia. Verda provides infrastructure and computing power services for artificial intelligence workloads, ranging from data centers to cloud platforms.
Why it matters
This funding supports Verda’s goal of scaling product development and processing capacity simultaneously in infrastructure services for artificial intelligence applications. In particular, the scope of its inference efforts and services ranging from data centers to cloud platforms are areas to monitor in terms of the technical capabilities of the computing power the company provides. Its expansion plan in Europe, the US and Asia turns the development from merely an increase in the resources of a Finland-based company into a step affecting operations in different regional markets. However, the report does not explain which products, at what scale or at which stages the investment will be used in these regions; the concrete results of the company’s growth plan remain dependent on these aspects.
