Overview of Accommodation Platforms
The Foreign Digital Accommodation Platforms Bill was adopted by the TBMM Public Works, Zoning, Transport and Tourism Committee. The bill regulates the conditions, obligations and sanctions governing the domestic activities of foreign digital accommodation platforms in the electronic commerce environment.
Platforms will be required to obtain a permit document from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; those who obtain this document will not be asked for any other business or permit document.
New steps
The document fee will be 5 million TL; it will be increased each year by the revaluation rate and deposited into the Ministry’s revolving fund account. The President will be able to increase the amount up to twofold or reduce it by half. The document will be valid for 2 years and cannot be transferred.
Turkey figures
The following conditions will be required for the permit:
- digital services tax liability,
- having no outstanding tax debt,
- designating a contact address within the country and a responsible TC citizen or legal entity,
- notification of a UETS address,
- payment of the fee.
Platforms will designate at least one representative in Turkey; a natural person representative must be a Turkish citizen and reside in Turkey, while a legal entity representative must be a capital company. A separate document will be issued for each platform affiliated with a consolidated group.
