Toyota Corolla is preparing for the electric transition with its new generation. The concept showcased by Toyota President Koji Sato at the Japan Mobility Show pointed to an electric version with a sharp silhouette, a closed front grille, slim rear taillights and a charging port. Sato stated that this was part of Toyota’s multi-energy strategy. The new Corolla will be offered as a fully electric model in some markets, and with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and gasoline options in others. Toyota’s flexible approach will be shaped by countries’ demand for electric vehicles. The production version is expected to be introduced first in Japan, reach other regions toward the end of 2027, and have a global rollout that may extend into 2028. The platform has not yet been announced; it may differ from the e-TNGA used in bZ4X and C-HR+.
