Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which hit the market last month, is available at Best Buy for $1,799.99 (256GB) with a $300 discount—the best deal seen since launch. The phone’s triple rear camera system, battery life and slim design have been praised, while its high price has been criticized. Compared with the Z Fold 7, it offers brighter displays, sharper cameras, fast charging and a durable hinge. However, it did not fully pass the JerryRigEverything test; its IP48 durability fell behind that of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Battery capacity increased from 4,400mAh to 5,000mAh, providing a full day of use on a single charge.
Remarkable Paper Pro Move is $469 at Best Buy with a $100 discount; its 7.3-inch display lasts for up to two weeks. The Insta360 X5 has dropped to $464.99 at Amazon and Insta360, recording video at 120fps in 4K and delivering strong low-light image quality. The 4K Blu-Ray of The Mandalorian and Grogu is available on Amazon for $24.77, about $5 off.
Why it matters
The discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra lowers the barrier to accessing the foldable phone, which has been criticized for its high price; however, durability assessments continue to be a deciding factor in the purchasing decision alongside the price. The model’s improvements over the Z Fold 7 in the areas of display, camera, charging, hinge and battery provide a basis for comparison for users considering upgrading from the previous generation. By contrast, the results in the JerryRigEverything test and its IP48 rating falling behind that of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold leave an open question for those seeking a more durable device. Other discounts during the same period show that the deal is not limited to smartphones; e-readers, action cameras and film buyers can also find options suited to different usage needs.
