SwitchBot introduced the new retrofit smart lock Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo, developed for European homes, at IFA 2026. The system offers options such as fingerprint, passcode, NFC card, face or palm vein recognition for entry without a traditional key. Remote access via the SwitchBot app, voice commands, smartwatch and widgets is also possible, bringing the total number of options to 19.
Priced at €339.99 / £339.99 (approximately $395), the package includes the Keypad Vision Pro, Hub Mini Matter and Lock Ultra Max components. The company states that the lock supports 99 percent of locks in Europe and is compatible with EU profile cylinders, thumbturn cylinders, Swiss round cylinders and UK oval cylinders. Additional adapters are available for less common installations. The new model reaches speeds of 160rpm with its motor, which provides more than 9 kilograms of turning force; this makes it 3.2x faster than the previous Lock Ultra.
Why it matters
The key difference with this product is that it aims to adapt smart lock use to existing European-style locks without requiring the installation of an entirely new door system. Its claimed compatibility with different cylinder standards makes the solution particularly relevant for tenants, homeowners and users who do not want to replace their existing door; however, whether adapters are required for less common installations is an important consideration. The availability of multiple entry methods reduces reliance on keys while also raising the question of how access permissions will be managed. When considered together with remote access and the Matter-enabled Hub Mini, the package price reflects not only the cost of the lock but also that of the connected home infrastructure. The lock’s actual ease of installation across different doors and cylinders remains the main outstanding issue.
