POCO X8 5G unveiled with a massive 8,340 mAh battery
A modern smartphone on a table

POCO introduced the budget-friendly X8 5G model alongside the F9 series. The phone comes with a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display, a 120 Hz refresh rate, 3,500 nits of brightness and a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, while offering 6/8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage options. The device features a 50 MP main camera, a 2 MP depth sensor and a 16 MP front camera.

The standout feature of the POCO X8 5G is its 8,340 mAh battery with 67W charging support. The company says the battery, which contains 13% silicon, offers more than two days of use on a single charge and retains at least 80% capacity after 1,600 charging cycles. The model runs on the HyperOS 3 operating system and will start at $269, while the top version will sell for $349.

Why it matters

The model shows that in budget-focused phones, not only price but also battery life and usage time have become key areas of competition. The high-capacity battery and claim of extended charging-cycle durability directly concern users who do not want to charge their phones frequently and plan to use their devices for a long time. While the display, memory and storage options provide flexibility in daily use, the camera setup suggests that the product prioritizes the display and durability over photographic versatility. Which memory and storage options will be offered at the price difference between the entry-level and top versions will determine purchasing decisions. It remains unclear whether the company’s claims about battery life and capacity retention will hold up under real-world conditions and in which markets the model will go on sale.
