Adobe has announced the Adobe for Slack integration, bringing its creative and productivity tools to Slack. The application makes more than 70 tools from Firefly, Adobe Express, Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Stock and Lightroom accessible in Slack. Users can send requests such as creating visuals and editing content to Slackbot in natural language; the system selects the appropriate Adobe tool and carries out the task. The application must be installed in the Slack workspace for this to work. Slackbot can also use content from channels, Canvas documents and Creative Cloud, in line with the relevant permissions. The integration bears similarities to the structure of more than 70 tools Adobe announced for ChatGPT.
Why it matters
This integration transforms Slack from an environment used solely for communication and file sharing into a workspace where creative production processes can also be carried out. Particularly for content, design and marketing teams, the ability to initiate requests through the channels where workflows take place, rather than splitting tasks across different applications, could change how the platform is used.
