Although it is easy to find old console games at online auctions, beta discs prepared for internal use are rare. MattKC came into possession of a copy of the Beta 3 version of Burnout 3 for the original Xbox. MattKC compared the version with the retail game and preserved it.
The disc first had to be deciphered because of its proprietary structure.
DVD Video echoes
Reading Xbox games can be difficult because they appear as DVD Video discs on computers; however, this beta, written for the Xbox development kit, was easily read and copied using a standard DVD drive and common Xbox ISO tools.
The comparison found no major differences from the PAL retail version; the beta was dated just six days before the official release. The changes were mostly limited to localizations in languages other than English. The beta was uploaded to the Internet Archive.
