Radio Shack timeline

The 12 MB external hard disk offered for the Radio Shack TRS-80 in 1983 was sold for $3,495; that amount is equivalent to $11,932 in 2026 USD. The device contains a Tandon TM-603 5.25″ HDD, a 60 Watt power supply, and a Signetics 8X300 microprocessor that provides external drive control.

Clint timeline

Since he did not have a working TRS-80, [Clint] from LGR only opened the device, inspected its interior, and powered it on. The disk, which started up quite noisily, will be donated to a computer museum in the hope that it can be reused. It remains to be seen whether both components are still working in 2026.
