Following Yenilik Partisi’s application, Yargıtay Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı brought the request before Anayasa Mahkemesi after the deadline granted to YENİ Parti to change its name expired on 18 September. AYM will hear the application concerning the invalidation of YENİ Parti’s name and its removal from the political parties registry on Tuesday, 29 September.
AYM will request a defense from YENİ Parti. After the Başsavcılık’s submission, Yenilik Partisi’s opinion and YENİ Parti’s defense have been received, a rapporteur’s report will be prepared. If a violation is found, YENİ Parti may be warned to change its name. YENİ Parti, meanwhile, had decided not to change its name until a decision was issued.
