The Small Droid Has a Party Mode
The small robot on the workshop bench

[heychaostheory] developed an autonomous robot inspired by the mouse droids in Star Wars. The robot, which has a 3D-printed body mounted on a ready-made metal chassis, features an Arduino Uno, an L298 motor driver, ultrasonic sensors that detect obstacles, and LEDs. The party mode button plays music through the DFPlayer Mini.

Why it matters

The project demonstrates how mechanical design and basic robotics applications can come together by combining a ready-made metal chassis, a 3D-printed body, and different electronic modules in a single autonomous setup. In this respect, it provides an example that reduces the need for custom manufacturing and builds functions with separate components for those who want to create a similar project. Bringing obstacle detection, motion control, lighting, and sound capabilities together in the same system shows that the project is not merely a visual Star Wars adaptation. However, it remains unclear to what extent the ultrasonic sensors guide the robot’s movement in practice and how the party mode works together with autonomous behavior; the information provided is not sufficient to assess these results.
