TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that the death toll in the maritime disaster off Kyrenia had risen to 10 and that 18 people were still missing. Üstel stated that 239 of the 267 people on board had been rescued alive and reported that search and rescue efforts were continuing 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Üstel said that the judicial process concerning the ship’s crew, including the captain and the company official responsible, was ongoing, and that anyone found to have been at fault or negligent would be held accountable before the law. He stated that Türkiye was supporting the efforts with TCG IŞIN and TCG ALEMDAR.
