Founded in Izmir in 2022, HubX, a developer of artificial intelligence-focused mobile and web products, received up to $75 million in investment from Point72 Private Investments at a pre-money valuation of $1.2 billion. The company thus achieved unicorn status while also securing its first external financing. HubX’s more than 40 applications reach over 600 million users in more than 190 countries, and the company has more than 370 employees at its offices in Izmir and Istanbul.
HubX will use the investment to grow its existing products, develop its artificial intelligence and technology infrastructure, and expand its global mergers and acquisitions activities. The company aims to incorporate product teams and technology companies into its ecosystem and scale them globally using its own infrastructure, data and artificial intelligence capabilities.
Why it matters
Securing its first external financing shows that HubX has moved from a growth model driven by founders’ capital to a stage supported by institutional investment. This shift creates resources that will enable the company not only to scale its existing applications but also to incorporate product teams and technology companies into its own structure. Its user base in more than 190 countries and more than 40 products indicate that the investment will be directed toward developing a broad portfolio rather than a single application. For employees in Izmir and Istanbul, this process could create new integration requirements alongside the expansion of technology and artificial intelligence teams. The open question is to what extent the acquisition and product growth plans can be carried out in alignment with the company’s existing infrastructure, data and teams.
