Doku timeline
The investigations by the Erzurum and Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices into the fate of Gülistan Doku are ongoing. Footage dated January 8, 2020, published by Ferit Demir, showed police divers preparing, then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel and police officials arriving at the Sarısaltuk Viaduct, and members of the Doku family, her friends and lecturers, local residents, and members of the press at the scene. Divers searched Uzunçayır Dam Lake the same day; Doku was not found during the search efforts that continued for months. Pieces of a personal note and a prescription, along with a pair of scissors, were found in the water.
Akın Gürlek timeline
In the investigation, which was expanded in 2026, discrepancies were identified between the divers’ logbook and the official records. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said that some items may have been planted later to create the impression of suicide. In the fifth wave, 10 people were detained; police divers Gürkan Gürdal, Alaattin Kocamemik, and Vahit İlgör were also detained. Gürdal was arrested.
