Framework announced that it will refund the RAM price difference to some customers for the Laptop 13 Pro amid the ongoing component shortage. The company said it had sourced limited quantities of 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 memory modules from Micron at a lower cost. Framework, which raised memory prices in July, is passing the savings on to both shipped devices and some pending pre-orders. While the new prices will remain above the base prices from the initial pre-order period, they will be lower than the latest price update applicable to new pre-orders. This measure is being offered primarily to existing pre-order customers. The company said it aims to keep the computers accessible under current conditions by sharing the savings it achieved.
The difference will be refunded for pre-orders shipped with the higher RAM price. The prices of pending pre-orders up to Batch 10 configured with memory at the higher price will be corrected, and these customers will be offered the option to upgrade their RAM at a lower cost. If inventory increases or new memory becomes available, the offer will be extended to other Laptop 13 Pro pre-order batches and then to new orders. According to the configuration page, orders for Batch 20 are currently being accepted. DIY Edition owners will be able to fill out a form to change their RAM.
