DJI has renewed the panoramic action camera Osmo 360 II with more durable and replaceable lenses, improved low-light performance and higher frame rates. The 1-inch square sensor and 360-degree 8K video recording from the previous model have been retained, while the dynamic range has increased from 13.5 stops to 14.5 stops. The maximum frame rate in 8K recording has risen from 50 fps to 60 fps, while in 4K recording it has increased from 100 fps to 120 fps. 10-bit D-Log M and HDR support continue. An “ultra-hard” coating is used for the camera’s protruding lenses, while damaged lenses can be replaced by the user. A pair of replacement lenses will cost 39 euros in Europe and 45 dollars in the United States. In addition to the increased battery capacity, the AI SuperNight 2.0 system aims to reduce noise and motion blur in low-light conditions.
Why it matters
The renewed model focuses on the technical requirements of fast-moving subjects and nighttime shooting through higher frame rates in 360-degree recording and a system designed to reduce noise and motion blur in low light. These changes aim to limit quality loss caused by shooting conditions, particularly for users producing action footage. The coating and user-replaceability of the protruding lenses represent an innovation that directly affects the camera’s maintenance process in the event of damage; the replacement lens prices also indicate the additional cost of this option. However, because the report does not include the device’s sale price or release date, it does not allow the overall cost and accessibility of these technical updates from the user’s perspective to be assessed.
