YouTube announced at the Made On YouTube event on September 23, 2026, that it had added new artificial intelligence tools to the Studio app, where creators manage their channels. The updates aim to help analyze videos and grow audiences.
The AI-powered Ask Studio question-and-answer feature is being expanded to iOS and Android. The system will also review unpublished videos and offer suggestions on pacing, structure, and storytelling. A new research feed will show which types of content work on the platform, helping creators adapt them to their own style.
Studio will be able to create thumbnails and titles suited to a video’s content and the creator’s style. The dynamic thumbnail feature will prepare three options and show each one to a different segment of viewers. YouTube said A/B tests for titles and thumbnails have been used more than 40 million times. It will soon also be possible to test the opening hook of three different video edits. Later this year, Studio will automatically monitor thumbnail performance and replace images that do not perform well.
The company will take its analytics tools beyond providing only raw figures, explaining why videos are successful and offering suggestions to make content more engaging. Conversational editing tools are also being brought to Shorts and the YouTube Create app.
Why it matters
These changes are bringing the content creation process on YouTube closer to a model that combines preparation, presentation and performance tracking in the same tool, rather than limiting the workflow to measuring results only after a video is published. For creators working alone in particular, draft reviews, content research and title-and-thumbnail experiments will allow decisions to be tested at different stages; however, it remains unclear how these recommendations will be balanced with a creator’s original style. From the audience’s perspective, presenting the same video to different audiences with different visuals means personalization will be applied not only in recommendation lists but also at the entry point to the video. While the claim that analytics will provide explanations of cause and effect, along with automatic visual replacement, puts the question of which criteria creators will use to make decisions at the forefront, it has yet to be answered whether the new tools will prioritize content quality or merely click performance.
