TP-Link introduced its Archer 8 Ultra tri-band router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh system at IFA 2026, while the Wi-Fi 8 standard is not yet complete. The company said that products using the IEEE 802.11bn standard focus not only on speed improvements but also on connectivity issues noticed by users.
The Archer 8 Ultra has 18 internal antennas and offers speeds of up to 19Gbps over wireless and 10Gbps over wired connections. The Deco 8 Ultra can reach 22Gbps over wireless and 10Gbps over wired connections; the three-pack covers an area of up to 9,800 square feet and supports more than 200 devices.
Prices were not announced. Pre-orders for the Archer 8 Ultra will begin on September 30th in “select regions.” The Deco 8 Ultra is planned to go on sale in Q1 2027, while other Wi-Fi 8 products, including range extenders, adapters and the Roam 8 travel router, are scheduled to launch in Q2 2027.
The Wi-Fi 7 standard was completed in January 2024, while final certification for Wi-Fi 8 is expected to take place by May 2028. TP-Link said it uses chipsets from Broadcom, Qualcomm and MediaTek in its products and has adopted a “US-led hardware and software engineering” approach.

The introduction of the products before the Wi-Fi 8 standard is finalized requires buyers to monitor the compatibility and certification process as closely as the technical specifications. Therefore, the announced speeds and connection capacity leave open the question of how the relationship between the final version of the standard and the period when the products will go on sale will take shape. The Archer 8 Ultra is of greater interest to those seeking high wireless and wired capacity from a single router, while the Deco 8 Ultra is aimed at those who want to use a large area and many devices on the same network. Although the lack of announced prices makes it easier to compare the technical data, it prevents an assessment of the products’ affordability. The sales schedule being spread across different product groups also shows that TP-Link will introduce its Wi-Fi 8 portfolio in stages.
