Meta on Wednesday rolled out new tools on Threads designed to help podcast creators promote their shows, grow their audiences and engage directly with existing listeners. X is also reportedly encouraging creators to publish video and, in particular, podcast content directly on the platform to generate revenue and engagement.
Threads does not currently plan to host podcasts; instead, it aims to serve as a hub for posts and discussions. Show cards and banners will appear on podcast creators’ profiles and posts. Episode links will be presented as tappable cards, allowing users to start listening easily. Hosts will be able to share episode transcripts, tag guests and display cards about them. Users will be able to save these posts to listen to later.
Threads will also be able to remind creators to post on the platform when a new episode is released. Analytics tools will show how posts’ views change over time, broken down by followers, non-followers and all users. Last year, Threads introduced features such as improved link cards and the ability to associate profiles with podcasts. Meta’s social network reached 500 million active users in June, bringing it closer to X in terms of user numbers.
Why it matters
This approach positions Threads not as a platform where podcasts are published, but as a distribution layer where episodes are discovered and listener conversations take place. Show cards, transcripts and guest tags could help creators make episode links more visible and open to discussion than ordinary posts. Analytics that distinguish between followers and non-followers allow creators to assess whether their content is reaching beyond their existing audiences. X’s encouragement of publishing content directly on the platform shows that the two social networks offer different models to podcast creators. Since Threads does not provide hosting, the key question that remains is the extent to which views and engagement on the platform will translate into actual listens via episode links.
Background
Threads is not a new name in the FikirPilot archive: in the past 90 days, we published one article mentioning it, dated September 10, 2026.
