Tesla appears to be falling short of its target of producing 20,000 robots per week, despite allocating part of the Model S and Model X production lines to Optimus production. The company was able to produce only “a few hundred robots” per week last month. More than 100 parts in the hands and forearms of the V3 models are still assembled manually, while “sensing glove” technology remains under development.
Optimus is currently being used for limited tasks at Tesla facilities. Tesla plans to lease the robots rather than sell them initially.
