Canadian-born 28-year-old Stephen Kalyn, known for Off Campus, will play Brock in The Maid’s Secret, a film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s novel. Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst, Paul Anthony Kelly, Brittany Snow and Michele Morrone, who played Enzo in the first film, will appear in the sequel, which will be directed by Paul Feig. The story follows Millie Calloway as she becomes suspicious of her husband after starting work as a maid for a wealthy couple and being forbidden from meeting the woman of the house. The film, scripted by Rebecca Sonnenshine, will begin filming at the end of the year and will be released on December 17, 2027. The first film, released in December 2025, grossed 126.4 million dollars in the US and 400.5 million dollars worldwide. Kalyn played Dean Di Laurentis in Off Campus and also appeared in Gen V, Cruel Intentions and Motorheads. The series had Prime Video’s third-biggest opening, with 36 million viewers in its first 12 days.
Why it matters
Following his breakthrough in Off Campus, which reached a wide audience on Prime Video, Kalyn’s move into a high-grossing film franchise marks a shift in his career from predominantly television roles to a more prominent feature-film production. The first film’s global box office shows that the sequel is not merely a literary adaptation but part of a commercially proven franchise. The cast, featuring Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst and the other announced names, highlights Kalyn’s position in a large-scale production. The fact that filming will begin at the end of the year and the release has been scheduled for December 2027 makes the length of the production timeline and the as-yet-undisclosed significance of the Brock character in the story the main open questions.
