Affleck’s remarks
Ben Affleck has said he is “still scared” of Rosamund Pike, his co-star in the 2014 film Gone Girl, directed by David Fincher, even though more than 10 years have passed. In a video interview with Variety, the 54-year-old actor joked by imitating Pike’s cold performance and British accent, adding that she was “magnificent” in the film.
In the film, adapted from Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name, Affleck played Nick Dunne, who becomes the prime suspect after his wife Amy goes missing.
Good Woman timeline
In the story, Amy fakes her own disappearance in order to make her husband look guilty. Pike was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar in 2015 for the role, but the award went to Julianne Moore for her performance in Still Alice.
Jon Hamm figures
Affleck and Pike were not the first choices for the lead roles: Jon Hamm was unable to take the part because of the Mad Men shoot, while Fincher did not consider Reese Witherspoon right for the role. Witherspoon has said that, looking back, she believes the director was right. The film grossed $369.3 million at the worldwide box office.
