Snapchat has launched Snapchat Plans, a feature for organizing get-togethers with friends. Users will be able to create events and invite up to 200 friends, as well as manage the date, time, location and attendance information. Invitees will be able to respond with the options Going, Maybe or Can’t Go.

The My Plans section added to profiles shows ongoing, upcoming and past events. While events are accessible only to invited people, the feature competes with Partiful, which is popular among young people.

Why it matters

This development shows that Snapchat is expanding its use from communication between friends to planning get-togethers. For users, this means information such as invitations, attendance status and event history can be tracked within the same profile without being spread across different tools; limiting invitations to the relevant people, meanwhile, defines the scope of access to the plans. The feature demonstrates that Snapchat offers a direct alternative in the event-planning space to Partiful, which is used among young people. However, the open question is whether Snapchat users will adopt this function as a natural extension of their existing communication habits or continue using event-focused platforms.

Background

Snapchat is not a new name in the FikirPilot archive: we published a news article mentioning the name in the last 90 days; that article was dated 11 September 2026.
